Experiment #2 - 2.5
Part 1
We picked up VR headsets from the equipment room and brought them to the graduate lab to test out. After about 3 hours we finally got them to work on the computers in the lab, Anuraj was able to interact with one of the premade games on Unreal.
On Monday I spoke with Emil and we discussed various ways to go about this project, and so I tried Vuforia to create area targets. I did not realize I had Lidar so I was able to create Area Targets though my iphone. YAY. So i opened up Unity and imported the area target placing a cube to test it....I built it in IOS....BUT GUESS WHAT FOLKS. I need XCode again to output it to IOS.
HOWEVER.
I was able to download an earlier version of XCode. BUT. Yes, Unity is not compatible with my mac, it is too old. BUT. In the equipment room, there is a Mac and I am going to download Unity and Xcode on it, stay tuned for that!
Part 2
Going back to VR. I used the environment in VR to simulate my workspace, inputing the Oculus and a RenderTexture NdiReceiver. I just wanted to see if the live video would work in VR and well it did! What am I going to use it for???! I am not sure. but it could be processed in Touchdesigner before and brought in to affect the environment somehow.
The next step is to play with Physics, as in learning more about VR development, how objects affect other objects.
STAY TUNED!
