My definition of Queer - (The start of it at least)

It is important to define queer even if at its core it is subject less and defines a state of indeterminacy (Riordan, 2007). At its most basic, queer is an umbrella term used to describe folks that do not ascribe to a LGBT identity (Ruberg, 2018). It can mean “not gay or lesbian” but queer. Queerness rejects these heteronormative and homonormative binaries. To be gay, Morton states, “is to have a mere identity; to be queer is to enter and celebrate the ludic space of textual indeterminacy” (Morton, 1995, p. 373). Therefore, queerness is more defined by what it is not and is a way of dis-identifying from the majority, but it also can be used as a verb, to de stabilize something and subvert, as the root of the word “quer” in German means diagonal (Ruberg, 2018).
